Services provided by Women of Nations:

Eagle's Nest Shelter - Safe, secure haven for battered women and their children:

Each year we provide safe housing for about 575 women and 379 children. We offer direct services for those seeking refuge from violence, including advocacy (see CAP, below) for our residents young and old, based on their particular circumstances.

Community Advocacy Program - Victim support and resources, community education, legal advocacy:

With the exception of safe housing, for those in the 7-county metro area the CAP provides the same services as our shelter. Women can also reach CAP by calling our 24-hour crisis line. In operation from the beginning (1982), CAP also complements the shelter by providing advocacy services to women and children after their stay here. We offer support groups, one-on-ones, home visits, and legal advocacy.

CAP staff does high-content, informational presentations for public, private and charter schools; churches; community centers; and businesses. Thousands have attended our sessions—on topics such as child abuse prevention, child sexual abuse, dating violence, sexual harassment, safety planning, and family violence.

Youth and Children Program - Breaking the cycle of abuse:

Children require and deserve specific attention in the midst of a parent escaping domestic abuse. This includes educational awareness and community outreach, collaborative public awareness activities, systems change, and prevention education with intervention initiatives.

Native Youth Crisis Hotline - "Broken Feathers Hold No Honor..."

Our children are in crisis. To complement our existing family violence crisis line, we launched a one-of-a kind, statewide, toll-free hotline for American Indian youth. Within weeks there were calls from across Indian Country to go national. The purpose is prevention—to break cycles that foster staggering statistics of suicide, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and violence among Native children.
